ABS is an impact resistant, mechanically and thermally stable and high grade thermoplastic. For the last 20 years, this chlorine-free plastic has been used successfully in the furniture industry. The successful processing properties of ABS have found a place in furniture production in large markets, especially in Central & Northern Europe, Japan and Australia. Considering its disposal characteristics, ABS Edgebanding is often a mandatory component in public and private tenders.

Glue Application to ABS Edgebanding

All conventional hot melt adhesives (EVA, PA, APAO, PUR) can be used in Mobelkant ABS Edgebanding. The low shrinkage raw material formulation of ABS, together with high temperature resistant adhesives, guarantees reliable bonding. Heat resistant adhesives are particularly recommended for applications subject to high temperatures, such as near kitchen ovens. Glue application temperature will vary between 90°C and 220°C depending on the Adhesive type.
