PVC edge banding are offered to the market in thicknesses from 0.40 mm to 3 mm and in widths ranging from 8 mm to 390 mm. PVC Edgebanding is extruded as a sheet and then slitted. Its impact resistant formula means long life for milling, scraping, polishing and other knives and blades. The back side of PVC edgebanding has been applied with primer, which provides an international standard adhesion quality for perfect adhesion with suitable hot melt adhesives.

Glue Application to PVC Edgebanding

PVC edgebanding can be processed using any standard hot melt adhesive (E.g. EVA, PA, PUR). Dimensional stability of PVC edgeband is an important feature to be preferred. The material starts to soften only after 80 °C. Glue application temperature will vary between 90°C and 220°C depending on the adhesive type.

Temperature Selection for Best Results

For best results when applying pvc edgebanding, it is necessary to work with boards and edgebanding at room temperature. (Ambient temperature above 18°C is essential). The material must be heated overnight before use. If the temperature of the board or edgebanding is too low, the hot melt adhesive will harden before the edgeband is set in place. For other processes, the optimal moisture content of the boards should be between 7% and 10%. Since PVC tends to fade after scraping, the thickness of the plastic scraps should not exceed 0.1-0.2 mm. To avoid vibration marks, the cutters used for milling must be working with real diamond coated cutters. The recipe of PVC edge banding has been created to be processed successfully in both low and high speed applications and can be processed smoothly up to 60 mt/min.
