PVC edge banding strip

PVC edge banding is a material used to protect, decorate and beautify the cross-section of furniture boards and other materials. Its main component is polyvinyl chloride, and it is made through processes such as mixing, calendering and vacuum forming.

1. Components

Base material: Composed of PVC resin, calcium carbonate powder and various auxiliary materials (stabilizer, DOP oil, ACR, stearic acid, carbon white powder, color powder, anti-aging agent, etc.).

Ordinary, reinforced, industrial-grade back adhesive.

2. Characteristics

The surface is smooth, free of bubbles, wrinkles, with moderate gloss. Both the surface and the back are flat, with uniform thickness and consistent width.

It has reasonable hardness, high elasticity, good quality and strong wear resistance.

After trimming, the side color of the edge is close to the surface color, without turning white, with good gloss, which can make the overall color tone of the finished furniture harmonious.

3. Classification

By color: There are plain PVC edge banding strips, such as red, yellow, blue, green and other single colors; Wood grain PVC edge banding strips create an effect similar to wood veneer texture by printing paint on the surface.

By shape: It includes flat PVC edge banding strips, mainly used in furniture, kitchenware and other industries; Special-shaped edge banding strips, used in industries such as furniture, doors, and automobiles, have a more complex production process and are relatively expensive.

By raw materials: There are ordinary edge banding strips and environmentally friendly PVC edge banding strips. Whether they are environmentally friendly or not needs to be tested by authoritative departments.

4. Specifications

The thickness is generally between 0.2 and 3mm, the width is between 19 and 50mm, and the length is usually 1000mm per roll.

5. Application fields

It is widely used in furniture, office, kitchenware, teaching equipment, civil laboratories and other fields, for solid sealing of the cross-section of boards, to prevent the volatilization of formaldehyde inside the boards, and at the same time play a decorative and aesthetic role.

6. Production process

First, mix PVC resin, calcium carbonate powder and various auxiliary materials in a certain proportion, and then blend them into uniform materials. Next, press the materials into sheets of a certain thickness and width through calendering process. Then, through vacuum forming and other processes, form edge banding strips with smooth surfaces and regular shapes. If it is a wood grain edge banding strip, the wood grain pattern needs to be printed with ink on the PVC substrate, and then UV paint should be rolled on and cured.

7. Detection Method

Visually inspect whether the color and texture of the edge banding are consistent with those of the used board, whether the surface is smooth and flat, and whether there are any impurities.

Check if the back of the edge banding is flat. You can use a flat blade to hold the edge banding to see if it is in a straight line.

After sealing the edge with a small piece of edge banding strip, tear it off forcefully and check the adhesion strength between the edge banding strip and the hot melt adhesive.

Use your fingernail or other tools to scratch the edge banding to check its surface wear resistance and hardness.
